The two Isofix hooks are located at the junction of the backrest and the seat of the rear seat. (mandatory on all new vehicles since February 2011). They are fixed directly on the chassis of the car.
Our Britax brand Isofix car seats are equipped with two Isofix straps located on the sides of the car seat, inside the plastic cover. The hooks of the straps are attached to the two anchor points of the car.
Most Isofix car seats can also be installed only with the adult seat belt, without using the Isofix system. This also makes it possible to use the seat in an older vehicle without Isofix anchor points.
What does the law on safety inside the vehicle say ?
The Highway Traffic Act (R.412-1 et seq.) Requires the driver and his passengers to be restrained in cars weighing less than 3.5 tonnes, both at the front and at the rear of the vehicle. A specific restraint system is mandatory for children from 0 to 10 years old and up to 1.35 m tall since January 1, 1992. Failure to comply with the law exposes you to a 4th class violation.
