The city of Le Mans is located in north-western France in the department of Sarthe and the Pays de la Loire region. The city is world-renowned for its motor racing, particularly the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans. Le Mans is brimming with activities for children, ranging from theme parks to interactive museums. Here is a selection of some places to visit with the family:

. Papéa Park is located on the outskirts of Le Mans and is the largest amusement park in the region. It features rides for all ages (rollercoasters, carousels), water play areas and a mini farm.

. Gulli Parc is an excellent indoor option, ideal if it rains! This park offers inflatable play structures, slides and early learning areas for the little ones.

. Just a few minutes from Le Mans is Spaycific Zoo. Here you can enter large aviaries and observe often little-known species such as lemurs and bats.

. The Jardin des Plantes is perfect for a free family stroll. This 8-hectare park features lovely play areas, ponds and a rose garden.

And of course, there’s the 24 Hours of Le Mans Museum! This museum traces the history of the legendary motor race with an impressive collection of cars that will fascinate children of all ages.

Here are some handy options for getting to Le Mans or finding somewhere to park:

If you’re travelling by train, Le Mans station is a major hub with excellent connections, including the TGV. From Paris, the journey takes around 1 hour by TGV from Montparnasse station. There are also frequent services to Nantes, Rennes, Angers and Tours via the Pays de la Loire TER network.

Once there, at Le Mans station, the tram lines (T1, T2 and T3) will take you to the city centre or the circuit in just a few minutes.

To get to the collection point, simply take tram line 2 and alight at the Maillets-Banjan stop. For parking in Le Mans, there are car parks at the station and in the city centre.

Top tip: If you’re coming for a major event (such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans), you should definitely opt for the train or park-and-ride facilities, as the city centre and the area around the circuit become very difficult to access.
