What are the regulations at airports if I want to take my pushchair or car seat for my baby ?

For most airlines, the regulations work as follows : The stroller in the airport 

You can usually keep your pushchair with you until you reach the aircraft door. The cabin crew will collect it to put it in the hold and return it to you either when you leave the aircraft or on the baggage carousel.

If you have a compact pushchair (Ergobaby brand), depending on the airline, it may be accepted in the overhead luggage compartment above your seat, provided it complies with standard cabin baggage dimensions.

To ensure that your pushchair will fit in the cabin, make sure that it does not exceed the following dimensions: .

 55 cm in length.

 45 cm in width.

 24 cm in height

Car seat baby in the airport or on the plane ?

Like a pushchair, it is often transported free of charge in the hold. However, we recommend that you protect it with a special cover to prevent damage to the car seat.

In the cabin: you can use it on a passenger seat, but there are two conditions:

. You must have reserved a seat for your baby: they cannot sit on your lap; you must have paid for a seat for them..

The seat must be approved and bear a label stating ‘Approved for use in aircraft’ or comply with standards (ECE R44/03 or more recent). Please note that not all seats fit in the narrow aircraft seats!

What are the regulations for car seats on aeroplanes?

If your child is under 2 years old, you can hold your baby on your lap. However, depending on their size, it is safer to secure them with an approved seat belt or harness directly in the aeroplane seat, regardless of the length of the journey. 

On longer flights, you can also try to book a bassinet for your baby with the airline at the time of booking so that they can lie down.

Here are a few tips before you leave: 

Check the airline's website: Air France, EasyJet and Ryanair have slightly different policies on the number of free accessories (often 2 items per child).

Labelling: Bring sturdy luggage tags and a protective cover for your pushchair or car seat, as they are handled quickly during boarding.

Carry bag: Invest in a protective bag to prevent your car seat from coming back covered in dust or broken.
